2 Minute Amazon Ads

Hey,
It's another beautiful, crisp morning here in the UK, with no sounds other than birds tweeting. To help me focus when I'm working though, I always put on a pair of headphones and listen to the sounds of a thunderstorm - I'd get distracted listening to the birds!
Anyway, onto today's edition of The Morning ACOS...
Whenever I'm working on a new Amazon Ads Account, the first campaign I setup is an Automatic Targeting campaign - every single time.
They take 2 minutes to setup and they just flat out work, because you are leaning on Amazon's algorithm to do the research and targeting for you, based on its understanding of your advertised book(s).
Although these Automatic Targeting campaigns are very powerful and quick to launch, they still require regular optimization to keep them in check and running smoothly.
And once optimized, you can really scale these campaigns as far as your budget will allow. When you increase the budget on an Automatic Targeting campaign you are essentially allowing Amazon to go out and find more keywords and ASINs to test.
I have Automatic Targeting campaigns in some accounts I manage spending $400 - $500 per day, that started off spending $10 - $20 per day. It's taken a good few months to get them to that high level of spending, but with consistent optimization, they have scaled beautifully.
Optimizing Automatic Targeting campaigns really boils down to 2 things:
- Adjusting bids
- Negating irrelevant or poor performing targets
It really doesn't have to be anymore complicated than that.
