Genius

Jan 05, 2024

Just before Christmas, I was on a call with the authors helping me build The Direct Sales Blueprint for Authors course (launching April 2024 – join the waitlist here).

We were discussing how to use Facebook Ads as a wide author (i.e. selling your books on retailers outside of Amazon).

With Lori's books now wide, I didn't want to have separate Facebook Ads Campaigns for each retailer the books are available on.

And, for me, whenever there's an opportunity to simplify things, I'm in.

So, when one of the authors on the call shared how they're using Facebook Ads to drive traffic to their books on all the retailers, with one special link, my ears pricked up more than a dog who hears "walkies".

I got even more excited when this author explained that they were using this same link to send readers to their direct sales store too.

A Genius Link

Without a moment to lose, after the call, I set up a Campaign using a Genius Link.

And these links really are Genius.

One link takes readers to a special landing page where they can choose which retailer they want to buy the book from.

Here's what Lori's landing page looks like:

But Genius Links goes one step further...

They will re-direct the reader to the relevant retailer for the country they are located in.

For example, if someone in the USA clicks the Amazon link on the landing page, they will be taken to Amazon.com.

But if someone in the UK clicks that same Amazon link, they will be taken to Amazon.co.uk.

Clever, right?

As I mentioned above, we are also using this Genius Link to send people to Lori's Shopify Store, with a custom link on the landing page.

One Campaign, Multiple Destinations

Clearly, we don't own the Genius Links landing page, as it's hosted on the Genius Links' website, so we can't use a Sales Campaign with Facebook Ads (we have a separate campaign using the Sales objective for Lori's store).

Instead, we need to use a Traffic Campaign, meaning we can't track the sales this Campaign is generating, but we can drive a lot of traffic to the landing page, and therefore, more traffic to the retailers.

Having said that, there are some impressive analytics inside Genius Links which tell us how many clicks each retailer link on the landing page is receiving.

And the beauty of this strategy is that I'm using the same link in each Facebook Ad I'm running, and it's all contained inside one single Campaign.

We've definitely noticed an increase in sales across all retailers since launching this strategy, so I'm excited to see where this goes.

If you're a wide author and have been wondering how to drive sales across all retailers, without making your head spin with 5-10+ Campaigins in your Facebook Ads Dashboard, Genius Links could just be the answer.

Must dash... I've got kids to feed, dogs to walk and a course on Direct Sales to build.

To Your Success
– Matt
