The honest truth

Most authors get the order wrong.

You’ve been told to run Facebook ads.

So you do. And they don’t work. So you tweak the ad, then the audience, then the budget, then the creative. Nothing moves. You blame the platform. Or you blame yourself. Or both.

Here’s what almost nobody tells you: the ads probably aren’t the problem.

If your cover doesn’t convert, no ad can save it. If your blurb doesn’t sell, no ad can save it. If your book page isn’t dialled in, no ad can save it. If you have no email list to catch the readers your ads bring in, no ad can save it.

The ads didn’t fail. They just showed you what was already broken underneath.

The problem isn’t that you haven’t tried hard enough. The problem is the order.

The worldview

Foundations first. Then one platform mastered. Then scale.

That’s the sequence. In that order. Not another one. Skip a step and the whole thing wobbles. Do it in order and it compounds.

01

Foundations

Cover, blurb, book page, categories, keywords, pricing, email list. The unglamorous stuff that decides whether readers hit buy or scroll past.

02

One platform, mastered

Right now that’s Facebook. Not a hundred tactics. The exact setup, testing method and scaling rules I use in my own business.

03

Scale

Only when the foundations hold and one platform is working. You’ll know when. And you’ll know exactly where the next pound goes.

I don’t teach this because it’s clever. I teach it because it’s the only sequence that holds up when you look at authors who are actually earning consistent money from their books.

The philosophy

You want a writing career. Not a marketing career.

I call the way I teach Strategic Laziness.

It doesn’t mean lazy. It means maximum impact for minimum ongoing effort. Set the machine up properly once, so it keeps running without you living inside your ads dashboard every day.

You have a day job, a family, a next book to write, and a life outside all of it. You don’t have time for a fifty-hour course full of tactics you’ll forget by Friday.

So I teach short, doable lessons. One next step at a time. I tell you what to focus on and — more importantly — what to leave alone.

The goal is a business that runs quietly enough that you can spend your best hours writing.

Why this exists

The moment this program had to exist.

I used to teach one thing at a time. Individual courses. A Facebook Ads course. An Amazon Ads course. Authors would buy them, work through them, and then email me a few weeks later saying:

“Matt, the ads still aren’t working. Here’s my book — can you look?”

I’d look. And within about thirty seconds, I could usually see exactly why.

The cover didn’t match the genre. The blurb read like a synopsis. The book page had the wrong categories. There was no read-through set up between books. There was no email list catching anyone the ads brought in.

The ads were doing their job. They were bringing traffic. Everything downstream was leaking.

I could keep selling ad courses to authors whose foundations weren’t ready — or I could build one program that teaches the whole thing, in the right order, with me alongside you while you do it.

So I did. This is Author1K.

It’s the only paid thing I sell. Everything else — the newsletter, the free content, the tools — feeds into Author1K or sits alongside it. When I say I’ve bet the business on it, I mean it.

What we build together

Not a course you file away. A working system, in the right order.

Here’s what’s inside Author1K:

1

Foundations that actually convert.

Cover. Blurb. Book page. Categories and keywords. Pricing. The unglamorous stuff that decides whether a reader hits buy or scrolls past. We fix this before you spend a single pound on ads.

2

An email list that pays you back.

A simple email setup, a welcome sequence that turns readers into fans, and the habits that keep them opening for years. This is the asset that outlasts every ad platform.

3

One ad platform at a time, mastered properly.

Author1K covers Facebook Ads, Amazon Ads and BookBub Ads. Each of them are taught step-by-step. Not a hundred tactics. The specific setup, testing method and scaling rules I use for my own ads and with clients. When it’s working, we scale it — not before.

4

What to do when the money starts coming in.

This is the part almost no program covers. When ads start returning a profit, most authors either freeze or spend it in the wrong place. I show you where the next dollar should go, and where it definitely shouldn’t.

5

Direct access to me.

I answer your questions myself. When you’re stuck on your blurb or wondering whether to turn off an ad, you’ve got someone in your corner who’s done it 1,000 times across multiple ad accounts and multiple genres.

The transformation

Where this actually takes you.

Before

Stuck. Spinning. Scared.

Publishing books that don’t sell the way you hoped. Watching other authors seem to figure it out.

Trying a new tactic each week. A new ad course. A new guru. Nothing sticks because nothing has time to.

Or sitting on a book you’re proud of and refusing to run ads because you’ve read too many horror stories about burning money.

After

Your Royalty Engine, running.

A book page that actually converts, because the cover, blurb and page do their job before an ad ever fires.

An email list of real readers who want the next book, and a welcome sequence that does the heavy lifting for you.

One ad platform running profitably. You know how to test, when to scale, when to pause — and when to leave it alone.

A system you understand top to bottom, that you can maintain in an hour or two a week while you get back to writing.

Straight talk on fit

Who this is (and isn’t) for.

This is for you if…

  • You’ve published at least one book
  • You treat your writing as a business, or you want to
  • You’re tired of random tactics and forty-hour courses you never finish
  • You’re willing to fix your foundations before running ads — even the parts you thought were fine
  • You want a clear next step for the next 90 days, not a to-do list of 300 things

This isn’t for you if…

  • You haven’t published a book yet
  • You’re looking for a magic bullet or a done-for-you service
  • You want a get-rich-quick promise
  • You want to skip the foundations and jump straight to scaling ads
  • You want fluff, hype, or pushy sales talk (I’ll save us both the frustration)

“I started right before publishing my first book. Thought I was ready. I wasn’t. I went back and fixed my cover, blurb, and positioning because of this program. That’s the difference between a book sitting there and a book that sells. Then I followed what Matt teaches on Facebook Ads and actually executed. Month 1: $700. Month 2: $2,700. Month 3: pushing $6,000 and hit number 1 in my genre multiple days. It’s called Author1K — I guess Matt meant the first month! This isn’t luck. It’s doing the work and following a system that works.”

“Since I started using your system I am on my third record-breaking month in a row and I am on track to break $10,000 for the first time by the end of this month.”

— Nina J
★★★★★

“In the first month my royalties doubled. But more importantly I made a profit and had my first month of over 100,000 KENP read. This may be one of the best investments I’ve made to achieve my goal of becoming a six-figure author.”

— Marsha DeFilippo
★★★★★

“I was hesitant because I’ve been burned by other programs that made promises. But Matt doesn’t deliver ‘fluff’. He starts you at the beginning, even if you are published, and takes you step-by-step. He teaches one platform at first to get you moving in the right direction. Matt knows his stuff, and it’s amazing how he’s helped me move forward.”

— Anita E Crist
★★★★★

“After trying for years, following different courses and throwing spaghetti at the wall, I have finally found someone that truly knows advertising and — even more importantly — knows how to explain it.”
