AuthorOS Privacy Policy

Your Privacy, Your Data, Your Work

AuthorOS is built on Coachvox AI, a platform that lets me train an AI on my own material, methods and voice so you can get my thinking on demand.

That means there are two sets of terms behind it: Coachvox's, and mine. This page explains the parts that actually matter to you, in plain English, and where my position is more generous than the platform default, I have said so clearly.

The short version

- Your chats are not used to train any other AI

- You can use what AuthorOS generates commercially, including in books you sell.

- You do not need to credit me or AuthorOS anywhere.

- Wherever you are in the world, you have rights over your data, and I will act on them.

Now the detail.

Your conversations are not used to train other AI

Nothing you type into AuthorOS is used to train any other AI or model.

Each Coachvox AI is fully independent. The training data and the conversations stay inside that one AI. What you ask AuthorOS does not turn up in somebody else's AI, and it is not fed into a general model somewhere else.

Coachvox have written up how this works here: Coachvox policies and processes explained

So you can bring your real book, your real numbers and your real problems to it. That is when it is most useful, and there is no reason to hold back.

What you generate is yours to use, commercially

This is the part most people want a straight answer on, so here it is.

By default, Coachvox's terms say that content generated by the AI belongs to me as the Creator, and that you automatically get the right to use what you generate for personal, non-commercial purposes. Commercial use, for example putting something you have generated into a book you are selling, sits outside that default grant. It needs my express permission. The default terms also say clients should not present generated content as their own original work without attributing the Creator, where that applies.

So let me give you that permission now, in writing.

Every user of AuthorOS has my express permission to use the content AuthorOS generates for them commercially, including in books they sell. You do not need to credit me or AuthorOS anywhere in your work.

Blurbs, ad copy, email sequences, outlines, titles, back matter, whatever you build with it. Use it. Sell it. It is yours.

That is what AuthorOS was built for. A tool that helped you write a blurb you were not allowed to put on your book would be a fairly useless tool.

One more thing worth knowing: Coachvox's terms do not draw a line between US and UK or European users on this point. The same wording applies globally, wherever you are based, and so does my permission above.

Your privacy rights, wherever you are

Section 2.6 of Coachvox's privacy policy lists a set of rights: access to your data, deletion, correction, opting out of the sale of your data, and limiting how sensitive data is used.

Those rights are tied to the US states that currently have their own enacted consumer privacy laws. Right now that means California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Virginia.

If you are reading that and thinking "so what about me?", here is the important bit. That list is not a judgement about whose data matters. It is a reflection of how US privacy legislation works at the moment: state by state, rather than one federal law covering everybody. More states are adding their own laws as time goes on.

It does not mean there are no rights anywhere else.

I am based in the UK, which means GDPR applies to me and to how your data is handled. Coachvox cover that here:

Coachvox privacy policy, clause 3.6

In practice, this is simpler than the legal language makes it sound. If you want to know what data is held about you, or you want it corrected, or you want it deleted, email me and I will deal with it. You do not need to live in a particular place, quote a particular law, or phrase the request in a particular way. Just ask.

Anything else

If there is something on this page you would like me to explain further, or you are not sure how something applies to you, email me at hello@matthewjholmes.com and I will give you a straight answer.

I would rather you used AuthorOS with complete confidence than held something back because you were not sure where you stood.

To Your Success
Matt

This page sits alongside Coachvox's own terms and privacy policy rather than replacing them. Where my permission above is more generous than the platform default, my permission stands.
